Help for Seniors

Monterey County is fortunate to have a strong network of aging services to support and assist older adults and their families. Services range from basic resource information and assistance to legal services. The AAA is pleased to provide teh following resource links and information.

Support Services:

Action Council
The Independent Transportation Network of Monterey County is a volunteer driver program that allows seniors to maintain their independence and their dignity while making the streets safer keeps seniors connected to family, friends, community, and the economy.
Alliance on Aging
A non-profit social service agency providing community education and outreach, advice about Medicare, nursing home advocacy, senior peer counseling, training and employment and tax counseling for the elderly.
Alzheimer's Association
A non-profit agency dedicated to meeting the needs of people affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and their caregivers.
Department of Social and Employment Services
The Monterey County Department of Social and Employment Services administers over seventy programs that daily serve an estimated 100,000 residents of Monterey County.

The Elder Care Locator is a national phone service providing referrals to community agencies for areas throughout the country.
Health Projects Center - Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center
An agency of the statewide Caregiver Resource Center System, providing support and assistance to caregivers of people affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Kinship Center - Family Ties
A non-profit agency providing support and assistance to grandparent caregivers of minor children.

Maxim Healthcare Services is a provider of home health, medical staffing, and wellness services.

A program of the Salinas Union High School District providing specialized educational and therapeutic services to older adults.
Visiting Nurses Association
A non-profit home health care agency in Monterey County operating a number of services including an Adult Day Care Center for older adults.

Legal Services for Seniors
A non-profit organization dedicated to serving the legal and advocacy needs of seniors throughout Monterey County.
Legislation and Advocacy
AAA L&A Committee analyzes and tracks proposed legislation; Federal, State, and local laws; and social policies affecting seniors and people with disabilities. The Committee initiates legislation and policies to improve services and advocates change for older persons and people with disabilities.

Senior Nutrition Services:

Elder Nutrition Program
Free home delivered meals and congregate meals are offered to eligible adults throughout Monterey County.
Alisal Union School District
Prepares and delivers congregate meals to older adults and people with disabilities in the city of Salinas.
King City Union School District
Prepares and delivers congregate meals to older adults and people with disabilities in the City of King.
Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula
Prepares and delivers home delivered and congregate meals to older adults and people with disabilities throughout the Monterey Peninsula.
Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley
Provides home delivered meals to older adults and people with disabilities throughout the Salinas Valley and North Monterey County.
Mee Memorial Hospital
Prepares and delivers congregate meals to older adults and people with disabilities in the city of Greenfield.
North Monterey County Park & Recreation District
Provides congregate meals to older adults in Prunedale and Castroville.
