Reference: The Board adopted Resolution 92-256, dated June 9,
1992, forming the Children’s Council, an Interagency Children’s Services
Coordination Council; Bylaws amended October 6, 1998; Bylaws amended by Resolution 01-450, dated
November 20, 2001. Bylaws amended June 26, 2007
Membership:
The Council consists of Deputy Director, Family and Children's Services
Division; Department of Social Services; Housing Authority of the County
of Monterey; Behavioral health Director; Chief Probation Officer;
Director of the Health Department; Director of the Department of social
and Employment Services; Presiding Judge of County's Juvenile
Court; Superintendent of the County Office of Education; One Member of
the County Board of Supervisors; District Attorney; Sheriff, Chair of
Child Abuse Prevention Council; Public Defender; County Counsel.
Two representatives of private non-profit
corporation or foundation which has a goal of addressing the needs
of children that are not adequately served by existing public and
private funds.
A Representative of the local planning
agency participating in the California Early Intervention Program
A representative of the local child care
resources and referral agency or other local child care coordinating
group
A representative of the City or County
Parks and Recreation Department
A representative of libraries
Two at-large members 1) from the business
community; 2) from community based organization
A representative from a non-profit that
provides services to children and youth in the areas of alcohol and
drugs
Membership is appointed by the Board.
Terms:
Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors and the superintendent's
Council shell serve one (1) year terms beginning July 1 of each year. A
member serves until a successor is appointed
