Membership: Eleven voting members representing ∙ A representative from a fire-protection agency that provides pre-hospital emergency medical services at the “basic life support” level, nominated by Monterey County Fire Chief’s Association ∙ A representative from a fire protection agency that provides pre-hospital emergency medical care at the EMT-Paramedic level, nominated by Monterey County Fire Chief’s Association ∙ A representative from a law-enforcement agency that provides pre-hospital emergency medical services nominated by the Monterey County Police Chiefs’ Association ∙ A representative of hospital administration nominated by the local Hospital Council ∙ A representative of City Managers nominated by the Monterey County City Managers’ Association ∙ A representative nominated by the Monterey County Parks Department ∙ Three citizen representative nominated by the EMS Director with attention to appropriate geographic representation. ∙ An emergency physician nominated by the Medical Advisory Subcommittee. ∙ A Monterey County accredited EMT-Paramedic nominated by the EMS Director.
The EMS Director and the Office of Emergency Services Manger shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting members of the Emergency Medical Care Committee.
Terms: Each member serves a 2-year term commencing on the first day of July. One-half of the member’s terms expire on July 1 of each year.
Qualifications & Functions: The Emergency Medical Care Committee (formerly the EMS Council) is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to advise the Board of Supervisors and the EMS Director on EMS system issues, including CSA 74 funding, the EMS Agency budget and training; ensure that all EMS constituents will be actively engaged in decisions regarding EMS system resources; and provide input on the development and implementation of County EMS policies, protocols, and procedures. . Meeting Date, Time and Place: Meets on the second Wednesday of the month @ 10:30 A.M.
