About Us
Mission: The mission of the Monterey County Child Care Planning Council is to create comprehensive, integrated child care delivery system that offers safe, high quality, culturally sensitive, affordable child care to Monterey County families who need it; which allows parental choice and is supported by a partnership of public and private resources.
Planning Council Establishment: The California Legislature intends that local child care planning councils shall provide a forum for the identification of local child care priorities and the development of policies to meet the needs identified within those priorities
Members: Members of the Child Care Planning Council are appointed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and County Superintendent of Schools. The duties of the Council include planning for child care in Monterey County by conducting child care needs assessment, organizing county wide planning, providing a forum for public input, and submitting assessment results and identified priorities to the California Department of Education. The Planning Council also works to develop Child Care services by designing systems to consolidate child care waiting lists, and coordinating part-day programs to provide full-day care.
