Monterey County is re-designing its website and would like public input on developing a website that will best serve the needs of residents, business and visitors.

  • Do your part during the drought - conserve water! Visit the County's drought information page to find out how Monterey County is being affected by the drought situation and ways you can help.
  • Two community workshops regarding studies for reusing the Old County Jail have been scheduled for April 30th and May 22nd from 5-6:30 p.m. Both will take place at the Monterey County Government Center in the Monterey Room. The workshops will provide an opportunity for the public to hear about the ongoing development of reuse alternatives and rehabilitation issues as well as comment on the project.
  • The Monterey County Civil Grand Jury has released an interim report, "Chualar Sewer System," which is available for public review here or on the Monterey County Superior Court website.
  • All branches of Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) will be closed Thursday May 1st for Staff Day. Online services including downloadable books, databases, and self-service account management will continue to be available 24/7 on the MCFL website. Click here.
  • Calling all young poets! It's time for the Monterey County Free Libraries annual Cowboy Poetry Contest. This contest is open to young poets aged 18 or younger and winners will read their works at the Cowboy Music & Poetry Gathering kick-off for the California Rodeo in Salinas. Deadline for entries is May 10th. Entry details can be found here.
