The Equal Opportunity Office provides the following trainings:

Equal Opportunity and Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination/Diversity training

This training is designed to educate all employees on the prevention of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and will encompass the following:

  • ·      What are the laws governing Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination?

  • ·      What characteristics are protected by State and Federal Law?

  • ·      What is Unlawful Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation?

  • ·      Addressing Unlawful Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation in the Workplace.

  • ·      What are Employees Roles and Responsibilities?

  • ·      Embracing and Promoting Diversity and Inclusion.

ADA Training – Reasonable Accommodation and the Interactive Process

The EOO office provides ADA training to all employees of the County of Monterey. Trainings are held for (a) managers and supervisors and (b) non-supervisory staff. The trainings include an overview of the following:

 

·         Laws & Codes

·         Medical Exams & Disability Related Questions

·         Who is covered

·         Defining Disability

·         Major Life Activities & Limitations

·         Reasonable Accommodation

·         Do's and Don'ts

Sexual Harassment Awareness & Prevention Training – including an overview of the following:

 

·         Defining Sexual Harassment

·         Identifying the types of sexual harassment

·         Identifying behaviors that may be interpreted as sexual harassment in the workplace

·        Reporting sexual harassment pursuant to Monterey County Policy

·        Understanding employer/employee rights and responsibilities

·         Identifying strategies to prevent sexual harassment

        • Mandatory AB 1825 Training

      • State law mandates that managers and supervisors complete at least two hours of Sexual Harassment Training. If you do not supervise you still may be a candidate for this training because of your job classification. Please check with your manager or supervisor to determine if you are required to attend the training.

      • Manager and Supervisors

    County managers and supervisors are responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that all staff understand and work within Federal and State laws, as well as County policies and procedures, dealing with equal opportunity.
  • Initiating steps to foster and maintain a work climate that is conducive to achieving equal employment opportunities and a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
