The purpose of operator identification numbers is to enable tracking of agricultural and commercial uses of pesticides through pesticide use reporting.
- Operator Identification Numbers (OINs)
- Pesticide Use Reporting
Operator Identification Numbers (OINs)
OINs are issued by our office to persons wanting to apply pesticides in agricultural areas (agricultural production, parks, golf courses, cemeteries, rights-of-way). OINs are only issued to the property operator or his or her authorized representative.
You must bring a copy of a signed owner authorization letter (if applicable); and copies of clear, legible maps for each location on your OIN. Maps must include permit/operator ID number, company/organization name, ranch name, ranch number, year, lot numbers and acreage, pesticide storage areas, section, township, and range (if known), adjacent neighbors, wells, reservoirs, north arrow, ranch access/entry point, cross streets or physical address, landmarks (power poles, equipment yards, gates, fences, ditches, trees, etc.), and sensitive sites within a ¼ mile.
Pesticide Use Reporting
In Monterey County, whenever a pesticide is applied which requires an operator identification number or a restricted materials permit; or when a pesticide is applied by a licensed pest control business, a Pesticide Use Report must be submitted to our office. Pest Control Businesses are required to submit reports within 7 days of the completion of the application. Growers and others are required to submit reports by the 10th of the month following pesticide use.
There are three types of Pesticide Use Reports:
