Comfort Dog

In November 2013, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office welcomed Odile, also known as “Odie” to its Victim Witness Unit. Canine Companions for Independence a non-profit assistance canine organization donated Odie, a Labrador/Retriever mix to serve as a comfort dog in a new and innovative service. Odie provides a unique kind of support, peace and security to victims and witnesses involved in the criminal justice system. Her presence benefits victims, witnesses, lawyers, judges, law enforcement officers and anyone who is in need of her calming influence.
