  • West Nile Virus Detected in Monterey County Bird

    Monterey County Health Officials announce that West Nile virus has been detected in a bird from the 93908 ZIP code region of Monterey County. This is the first bird reported with West Nile virus in Monterey County since 2013. West Nile virus has been present in Monterey County since 2004. Birds are infected with West Nile virus the same way people are infected – usually through the bite of an infected mosquito. West Nile virus lives and multiplies in birds.
