COMMUNITY HEALTH DIVISION: Is defined as activities that promote a healthy community by empowering individuals, groups and organizations to take responsibility for adopting healthy behaviors and supporting social and environmental policy that promotes health. PHILOSOPHY: Health Promotion is about getting in front of the problem. It is more than health information or health education. It is about empowering and involving individuals and communities in taking responsibility for health. Health Promotion fits within the medical model of disease prevention, the more holistic model of wellness and the community development models of social planning and community empowerment. STRATEGIES: We strengthen individual knowledge and skills, provide community awareness and education, train and increase capacity of providers, foster coalition building, change organizational practices and influence policy
