COMPREHENSIVE PERINATAL SERVICES PROGRAM The Monterey County Health Department, Community Health Services Division provides Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) services that focus on core public health functions of assessment, policy development, and assurance. The MCAH program operates a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program that provides educational training to a community-based perinatal care delivery system focusing on low-income and Medi-Cal eligible women. The CPSP Program offers technical support and maintains ongoing training for all state-certified CPSP practitioners in Monterey County.Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program practitioners offer eligible pregnant and postpartum women comprehensive services for up to 60 days postpartum. CPSP trained practitioners consult with clients and provide information that is sensitive to cultural, religious, traditional, and economic concerns to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes. CPSP clients receive ongoing orientation, assessment care, care plan development, case coordination, referrals, and appropriate nutrition, health education, and psychosocial services.
