IN MONTEREY COUNTY

Many recycling and waste reduction opportunities exist in Monterey County. Our website provides information on the services available to unincorporated Monterey County area residents. Please consult the links below for information specific to your incorporated city. The Used Oil & Filter Recycling Program is available to all residents countywide.

How Do I Know if I Live in Unincorporated Monterey County?

Unincorporated Monterey County includes: the communities of Aromas, Big Sur, Bolsa Knolls, Bradley, Cachagua, Carmel Highlands, Carmel Valley, Castroville, Chualar, Elkhorn, Gabilan Acres, Hwy 68 (Corral de Tierra, Toro Park, Las Palmas), Jolon, Las Lomas, Lockwood, Moss Landing, Oak Hills, Pajaro, Paraiso Springs, Parkfield, Pebble Beach, Prunedale, Royal Oaks, San Ardo, San Lucas, Simonville, and Tassajara, as well as outside the city limits of Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Salinas, and Soledad.

Carmel-Marina Corporation/ Waste Management, Inc. provides garbage and recycling service for these areas. Monterey County Health Department oversees the contracts for this franchised service.

garbage & recycling hauler.

Monterey Regional Waste Management District (MRWMD) Includes the Peninsula cities of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Del Rey Oaks, Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Sand City, Seaside, and Pebble Beach Community Service District.

Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) 
Includes the Salinas Valley cities of Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Salinas, Soledad, and Community Service District of Spreckels.
