--------------------------------------------------------------------- Castroville Commercial Improvement Program (CLOSED 10/15/08) The purpose of the Commercial Improvement Program is to assist in stabilizing and stimulating economic activity within the Castroville downtown business district by providing financial assistance to improve and enhance the appearance, functionality, and safety of commercial buildings.
The County of Monterey is offering grants of up to $25,000 to encourage businesses and non-profit organizations to undertake projects to remedy building deficiencies or enhance building facades and streetscapes that reflect the Design and Development Guidelines contained in the Castroville Community Plan. Examples of projects which may be funded through this grant include new signs, facade (exterior) painting, exterior lighting, and landscaping.
Eligible applicants include commercial property owners or lessees (with permission of property owner) whose property or business is located on Merritt Street, and non-profit organizations who would like to undertake an improvement project that will benefit the Castroville community.
