I can't get into my email.
The most likely cause is that you are not logged onto the County Network properly.
Close all open programs and restart your PC.
Be sure to type in your username and password at the Microsoft Networking Log-on window.
If this still does not solve the problem, call our help desk at ext. 1400 and an IT staff member will fix the problem for you.

My monitor screen is black.
If your monitor is black, it is either in a power-saving mode or a blank screen screensaver is on.
In either case, moving your mouse slightly should revive it.

If you would like to turn off the power-saving mode, do the following;
Click the Start button.
Click Settings.
Click Control Panel. The Control Panel Window opens up.
Double click on the Power Management icon. The Power Management Properties window opens.
You should see there where it says to turn off the monitor after a certain period of time, and this time is in a drop down menu. Click on the little down pointing black arrow of this drop down menu and click Never.

If you would like to change the screen saver, do the following;
Click your Start button.
Click Settings.
Click Control Panel. The Control Panle window opens up.
Doubl click on the Display icon. The Display Properties window opens up.
Click the Screen Saver tab. Adjust settings how you'd like them. Click OK when done.

My PC keeps freezing and locking up.
There are numerous reasons why a PC locks up and freezes, for example, there may be too many programs running at one time or conflicting with one another, or it may be related to a perticular document. Prior experience has shown that an IT Analyst will most likely be required to come on site and troubleshoot this problem in order to resolve it.

I can't print.
For a local printer connected to your computer, the most common cause according to our call center database is loose cabling between the PC and the printer. Check to be sure all connections are attached securely.
For a networked printer, one must be logged onto the Monterey County Network. If logged on correctly but still unable to print, find out if others in your office can print to the networked printer, and then call our call center at ext. 1400. An IT staff member will assist with troubleshooting and resolution.

My PC is running slower than usual.
After time, a hard drive can become fragmented, which means your files are scattered in a less than optimal manner. Running Disk Defragmenter will help to improve function and speed by reorganizing these scattered files. There are cases where adding additional RAM (memory) may be needed to improve system performance and speed. Additionally, there are various other causes for slower performance which may be software or hardware related.
Call our call center at ext. 1400 and an IT Analyst will assist in troubleshooting and resolution.
