NetLibrary Information & Help
Monterey County Free Libraries offer
downloadable eAudiobooks and eBooks that may be accessed 24/7 from
your home computer. eBooks
are digital books that may be read from your home computer or a
library computer. They
are not downloadable.
eAudiobooks are recorded books that
may be downloaded to your home computer, or MP3 player.
Library computers may not be used for this service.
NetLibrary has two kinds of audiobooks:
WMA and MP3. WMA audiobooks require Windows Media Player and a Windows
compatible WMA player. MP3
audiobooks will work on most portable players, including Apple iPods.
Please check the list of portable players that may be used with
NetLibrary at: http://www.oclc.org/audiobooks/techspecs/devices.htm
A valid Monterey County Free
Libraries card is required to enter the site and create a free
account. Once you have
created a free account, you may download eAudiobooks to Windows Media
Player (WMP), or to the NetLibrary Media Center (NMC) which may be
downloaded from the NetLibrary website. Downloading the NMC will
place an icon on your desktop which will enable you to directly access
NetLibrary to play, browse, and download more eAudiobooks. For a
demo on how to use the NMC, please click
here. WMP will store and play your downloaded eAudiobooks
only. For a demo on how to download to WMC, click
here. Once you have created a free account, you may access
the collection by double
clicking the NetLibrary Media Center icon on your desktop, logging
in directly at www.netlibrary.com,
or revisiting Monterey County Free Libraries' eBooks & eAudiobooks
webpage.
This new and developing service from
NetLibrary Media Center and your library requires that your computer
meet certain specifications. There
are many helpful video demonstrations and informational links to help
with most problems you might encounter at:
http://www.netlibrary.com/Help/Default.aspx
Note:
The NetLibrary Media Center is currently incompatible and can not be
downloaded to new computers with 64-bit versions of Windows. To
overcome this problem, eAudiobooks may be downloaded manually and
played on Windows Media Player. You do not need to use NetLibrary's Media Center to download
and play audiobooks.
Enjoy and thank you for using
Monterey County Free Libraries.
