Photos of the Region

Our Californiana collection, located at the Prunedale Branch, consists of books and other items on the history of Monterey County and California.

Historical photographs of Monterey County and central coast places, pamphlets, papers and maps are located at the Library Administrative Office in Marina. The photographs have been digitally reproduced and copies can be purchased for a fee.

As a part of the 2010-2011 Local History Digital Resources Project funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian, 200 of these images are now available online. Photos depicting industry, agriculture, buildings, culture, and events in Monterey County are presented in this small sampling.
