Occupational Safety and Health Program

The Risk Management & Employee Benefits Office implements and maintains the County Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) as required by the California Code of Regulation, Title 8.  Each department develops specific safety policies and procedures applicable to the duties of employees assigned to the department.  The IIPP document is provided below to help communicate occupational safety information to all employees of the County.  A link to the County's occupational safety documents and policies is also provided below.

Employee Assistance Program
The  Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides initial assessment and referral services at no cost to employees and their family members covering a wide variety of work/life problems in areas such as: marital, legal, financial, emotional, stress, substance abuse, grief and loss, work pressures, parent/child conflicts and communication.  If you would like to learn more about our Employee Assistance Program, please call your EAP representative at (702) 364-1484 or visit the Behavioral HealthCare Options web site where you'll find so much helpful information. Note- You will be required to register (it's quick and easy) to login to their web site.

Child Care Assistance
Finding the right care center for your child can be a very time consuming task. Your TLC (The Life Connection) program can provide support with updated information about licensed day care facilities in your area.  Whether you are looking for preschool, kindergarten or before/after school care, TLC can provide assistance in helping you locate resources for your child. Just call your TLC representative at (800) 873-2246 to start the process.

Office Information

The Risk Management & Employee Benefits Office co-administers the CalPERS medical plans, and manage the dental and vision care coverage for County of Monterey employees, dependents, and retirees.  In addition, the County offers a variety of benefit programs to County employees such as Universal Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Cancer & Intensive Care benefits, and Long Term Care through the Section 125 Flexible Spending Plan.

Other Benefits include Employee Assistance (EAP), Dependent Care Reimbursement Plan, and a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.

The Risk Management & Employee Benefits Office remains committed to providing a comprehensive and affordable program of benefits. We promote wellness programs and education for our employees and retirees in making wise health care decisions.
