The RMA Ombudsperson

The Monterey County Resource Management Agency offers the services of an Ombudsperson to help people resolve disputes, manage conflicts, and express concerns related primarily to land use issues in Monterey County. The Ombudsperson serves as an independent, impartial and informal resource who seeks to promote fair problem resolution and where warranted supports systemic changes to better achieve this goal. The Ombudsperson provides a place for every voice to be heard without fear of retaliation.

When Might You Contact the Ombudsperson?

  • To explore alternatives for resolving a land use-related problem.
  • If efforts to resolve an issue with a staff person or their manager have not been successful.
  • To request information about land use permitting processes.
  • To learn about other resources that may be available.
  • To discuss a situation about Monterey County government off the record.
