Who do the Post Construction Requirements (PCRs) apply to?

- Projects located within the urbanized area jurisdiction, and

- New development or redevelopment projects with greater than 2,500 square feet of impervious surface area (collectively over entire project site or Net Impervious Area)

The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board is developing new requirements that will require new developments with greater than 2,500 square feet of impervious surface area to implement low impact development techniques that allow rainfall to infiltrate into the soil before it becomes runoff.

Which Post Construction Requirements (PCRs) apply to my project?

Step 1: Is your project located in the urbanized area jurisdiction?

- If no, you are exempt from implementing the Post Construction Requirements.

- If yes, proceed to Step 2.

 

Step 2: Is your project greater than 2,500 square feet?

- If no, you are exempt from implementing the Post Construction Requirements.

- If yes and a detached single family residence, See the following link for detached single family residence.

- If yes and not a detached single family residence, See the following link for all other projects.

 

Step 3: After looking at the flowchart from step 2, does Performance Requirement 3, 4 or 5 apply to your project?

- If no, proceed to step 4.

- If yes, see the watershed management zone map and groundwater basin map to determine which watershed management zone and groundwater basin your project is located in.

 

Step 4: Implement Performance Requirements based on the flow chart information from step 2.

Performance Requirement 1: Site Design and Runoff Reduction

Performance Requirement 2: Water Quality Treatment

Performance Requirement 3: Runoff Retention

Performance Requirement 4: Peak Management

Performance Requirement 5: Special Circumstances
