Stormwater Program

Stormwater runoff is created when precipitation from rainfall events flows over impervious surfaces and does not percolate into the ground. As the water flows over surfaces such as paved parking lots, sidewalks and rooftops, debris and other pollutants are picked up by the water flow and discharged into local waterways. To prevent water pollution, most storm water discharges require coverage under an NPDES stormwater permit and must implement stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) or stormwater management programs.
