Mike is the Planning Director. He is responsible for processing of planning permits, zoning ordinance interpretation, Planning Commission and Zoning Administrator hearings, long range planning and ordinance preparation, coordination with other County departments and agencies, and coordination with other local, state and federal agencies.

Mike has worked as a planner for 18 years. In addition to working as a Monterey County Planner, Mike was a Planner with the City of Salinas and San Benito County. Mike also worked as a Scientist with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory prior to starting his planning career and has a bachelor degree in Physical Geography.

Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Mike is also a board member with the Association of Environmental Professionals, Monterey Bay Area Chapter, a statewide organization that provides continuing education opportunities for professionals such as planners, engineers, biologists, and environmental consultants.
