Application

This application is used by IRS dependents of Monterey County employees to apply for scholarships offered by the Monterey County Employee Scholarship Fund during the academic year. Scholarship awards are to be applied towards tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for the courses at the educational institution. The applicant is responsible for reading the requirements of the scholarship application process and submitting all information on or before the specified deadline. The deadline for the Spring award is the third Monday in January, and the deadline for the Fall award is the third Monday in August.


PLEASE READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY:

The application must be submitted as described below. Materials must be submitted as part of the application packet, and items will not be accepted separately.

Submit one (1) original and five (5) copies of the completed application packet. Each application packet must include the items listed, in the following order:

  1. Completed and signed application. (Note: The application must be typed, except
    for signatures).
  2. Two (2) signed letters of recommendation, which are dated within the last two years.
  3. Copy of the applicant’s high school or college course transcript, provided by the school in which the student is currently enrolled (a photocopy of official transcripts is acceptable).


    • The transcript must include the applicant’s current grade point average (GPA), which is required to be a minimum of 3.0.
    • College freshman (fall and spring applicants) must submit high school documents in addition to any college courses already completed.
  4. Copy of the cost per unit or course, and all anticipated fees and tuition.
  5. Copy of the applicant’s official class schedule from the school in which s/he is currently enrolled.
  6. For entering college freshman, a copy of the letter of acceptance from the college or university the applicant will attend, or a statement explaining the applicant’s acceptance.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS, OR APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER THE DUE DATE, WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

THE APPLICATION MUST BE SIGNED BY THE APPLICANT AND THE APPLICANT’S MONTEREY COUNTY PARENT OR SPOUSE/DOMESTIC PARTNER.
