REVENUE DIVISION
The Monterey County Revenue Division was originally established as the Revenue and Recovery Office by the Board of Supervisors in 1961. The Revenue Division primarily acts as the collection agent for Monterey County Superior Court’s delinquent criminal fines and fees.
The Revenue Division also acts as the collection agent for several county departments including the departments of Probation, General Services, Public Defender and Social Services.
The Revenue Division is recognized as a Comprehensive Collection Agency as outlined in Section 1463.007 of the California State Penal Code.
In Fiscal Year 2007-08 the Revenue Division collected in excess of $6.9 million and is anticipating collecting in excess of $7.5 million in FY 2008-09.
