I. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Chair at 1:00 P.M.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jack Stewart.

Roll call was conducted. (Michael McFadden) – Quorum was present.

Absent/Excused:

There is currently no representative for Assemblymember Mark Stone.

II. Approval of  March 13, 2014 Minutes:

The minutes of March 13, 2014 were unanimously approved (Stewart/Nye).

III. CAC Chairman Activity Report: 

Jack Stewart reviewed the Veterans Cemetery Steering Committee meeting held on the morning of April 10, 2014.

IV. Public Comment:

None.

V. Update on Federal Legislation:

Sonia Arndt reported that Congressman Farr met with CalVet by conference call and was assured that all is in place to meet the August 24 deadline to award and execute the Cemetery construction.

VI. Update on State Senate Legislation:

Nicole Charles stated that the schedule is being re-adjusted for some of the items to be   completed on the Cemetery timeline.

VII. Update on State Assembly Legislation:

No report.   

VIII. Update on Endowment Parcel/Seaside Matters:

Scott Ottmar, for Tim O’Halloran, stated that an Agenda item will be forthcoming on

Thursday, April 17.

IX. Update from FORA:

Jonathan Garcia reported that the FORA Board meeting will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014,

At 2:00 P.M., at the Carpenters’ Hall in Marina, California.

X.  Report from Central Coast Veterans Cemetery Foundation:

Janet Parks stated that the language being used for the Cemetery – “Phase 1” and “Phase 2” – is being changed to “The Project” and “The Expansion of the Project”.   She also reported that the Foundation will have a booth at the May14-17 King City Fair.  The Foundation has new members on the Executive Board, and new brochures will be distributed soon.  Anyone interested in volunteering for the Foundation may contact Richard Garza at #633-5102.

XI. Update from Fundraising Liaison Subcommittee:

Edith Johnsen informed CAC  that during the March meeting of the Fundraising Liaison Subcommittee the brochure was updated and a poster was prepared for the upcoming Heroes Open Golf Tournament.  Their next meeting will be held on April 17, 2014, at 1:00 P.M., at the Carpenters’ Hall in Marina, California.  Sid Williams reported that he is ordering golf balls and hats for the upcoming Tournament.

XII. New Business:

Jack Stewart suggested that a desk at the MVAO be manned by volunteers, to serve as a call center for information about the Veterans Cemetery. 

XIII. Adjournment/Next Meeting:  Meeting adjourned at 1:45 P.M.  The next meeting is May 8, 2014.
