    The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 1:00 PM.

  2. Approval of April 19, 2012 Minutes: On a motion by Bill Nye, and seconded by Ralph Villar, the minutes were unanimously approved.

  3. CAC Chairman Activity Report: James Bogan deferred to Jack Stewart, to update the Committee on the progress of planning for the November 2012 golf tournament. Mr. Stewart has acquired some corporate sponsorship, but is looking for more. He has enlisted significant volunteer support, and is seeking additional golfers for the event.

  4. Public Comments (Limited to 3 minutes each): Nicole Charles stated that Mr. Monning had selected James Bogan as his California State Veteran of the Year for Bogan’s many contributions to the veterans’ community over the years. She will inform the Committee on the details of the upcoming event.

  5. Update on pertinent Federal legislative activities: Julian Chacon. Mr. Chacon deferred to Senator Farr’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Alec Arago, who reported on the designation of the new Ft. Ord National Monument, and on the future V.A. clinic.

  6. Update on pending state legislation: Nicole Charles. AB 1842 cleared the Appropriations Committee on May 9, 2012, and now moves to the Assembly floor for a vote. No date has been set for the vote.

  7. Update on Endowment Parcel (EP) Matters: Tim O’Halloran (City of Seaside). The EIR will include the Veterans Cemetery. The tentative date for EIR completion is calendar year 2012.

  8. FORA Update: Jonathan Garcia. A handout detailing a series of five FORA Ft. Ord base re-use plan workshops beginning on May 21, 2012, was distributed.

  9. Report from Central Coast Veterans Cemetery Foundation: Janet Parks / Candace Ingram. Ms. Parks stated that $1.3 million is still needed to move the Cemetery project forward.

  10. Update from Fundraising Liaison Subcommittee: Edith Johnsen: There will be a follow-up meeting for the golf tournament on May 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M., at the Carpenters’ Hall.

  11. Additional Items: James Bogan encouraged all present to celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, May 28.

  12. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M. Next meeting date: June 14, 2012.
