Prerequisite(s)
Participants must be licensed or licensed eligible mental health professionals. Participants must be employed by an agency approved to write 5150/5585 holds.

Course Objective(s)
  1. Identify three conditions that can lead to hold.
  2. State the three criteria that can qualify an individual under the age of 18 to be considered an adult for 5150 purposes.
  3. Describe the purpose and content of the advisement.
  4. Complete the necessary documentation to apply for a valid 72 hour hold.

Course Description
Participants in this course will learn the legal requirements of placing an individual on a 5150 or 5585 hold and how to successfully document the hold. Participants who pass the course will receive a 5150 card which will allow them to place individuals in Monterey County on hold.
