On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, the Health Department responded to reports of illegally disposed 55 gallon drums containing hazardous waste. 34 drums were located off of Blanco Road near Reservation Road in Marina and an additional 18 drums were found on Johnson Canyon Road in Gonzales. Most drums, at both sites, were found on their sides leaking black tar-like material onto the ground.
The Health Department is investigating and is asking the public for assistance in identifying the vehicle(s) and or individuals responsible for these disposals. It appears the material was dumped between January 16th and January 17th.
