injuried husky AugOn the evening of August 3rd, the Monterey County Sheriff department responded to a call of an injured dog in a culvert on Armstrong Road in unincorporated Salinas.  The dog, a male husky mix about 1 year old, appeared to be attached to a chain that also had clumps of concrete attached to it. The dog was transported to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic where it was determined that a carabiner type clip was actually clipped through, the dog’s skin directly. The dog was treated and the clip was removed and the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Monterey County Animal Services is seeking information from the public with hopes that the dog’s owner is found and/or the person responsible for this injury. The Monterey County Animal Services shelter veterinarian suspects the clip had been on there over 10 days and does not suspect it was an accidental injury.

If you have any information about this case, please call Monterey County Animal Services at 831-769-8850.
