Settlement Agreement Announced Regarding Management of Agency Reservoirs
The Salinas Valley Water Coalition (Coalition) and the Monterey County Water Resources Agency (Agency) and the County of Monterey (County) have entered into a Settlement Agreement that provides for the resolution and dismissal of two lawsuits filed by the Coalition against the Agency and the County.
The Settlement Agreement provides for the establishment of a technical advisory committee (TAC) that will include technical representatives of the Coalition, the Agency and any other interested stakeholders. The TAC will deliberate and make recommendations to the Agency regarding how Nacimiento and San Antonio Reservoirs should be operated during extended droughts.
The Settlement Agreement also establishes a process for evaluating whether additional releases of water from the two reservoirs should be made during winter months.
The processes for considering drought operations and winter reservoir releases will be open and transparent. Interested members of the public are encouraged to participate in these processes.
