Environmental Health Bureau Accepting Payment Plans
“Safeguarding the residents and resources of Monterey County through Environmental Health”
The Monterey County Environmental Health Bureau announces they will be offering permit fee payment plans for businesses that have experienced a hardship due to COVID-19. The payment plan option allows for businesses to continue operating while an extension is offered for payment of annual health permit fees. Payment plans will be offered to the owner/permit holder only, are non-transferrable and non-refundable and require an initial installment payment at the time the agreement is made. Temporary permits that coincide with payment due dates will be issued until full payment is received and any noncompliance of a payment plan will result in the permit being suspended or revoked.
The Environmental Health Bureau processes over 9,000 invoices for health permits each year. Permits are renewable annually and all payments are due by July 1st of each year; payments received after July 1st are assessed a penalty fee and facilities operating without a valid permit are subject to closure. Payments can be made online, by phone or in person in the Salinas, Monterey or King City office.
