Official Monterey County Flag Overview
The Monterey County Board of Supervisors seeks to adopt the first-ever official Monterey County flag. Currently, only 24 of 58 counties in California have adopted an official flag and Monterey County could become the 25th to do so. Other local counties including Santa Cruz, San Benito and Santa Clara Counties have adopted their official flags.
Art designs for the flag emblem should embody the history of Monterey County, consider color schemes and elements from various parts of the county such as historical landmarks and local wildlife, agriculture, coastline and rivers, and mountain ranges.
Artists submitting a piece must live in the Monterey Bay area (Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz Counties).
With due recognition to the artist, the final art design adopted as the official flag emblem becomes property of Monterey County with exclusive right to reproduce for any purpose. Submission and final selection of the art design is voluntary.
Deadline Extended!! April 30, 2018.
