The Agricultural Commissioner is consulted on a variety of important and often controversial agricultural land use issues throughout Monterey County.

Our staff assists the Agricultural Advisory Committee, a committee established to advise the Board of Supervisors on land use and issues affecting, or of interest to, the agricultural industry. For more information on the Agricultural Advisory Committee, click here.

In addition, Agricultural Commissioner staff serves on the Agricultural Preserve Review Committee to monitor the County Williamson Act Program and review applications for Agricultural Preserves and Farmland Security Zones. For more information on the County Williamson Act Program, click here.

Questions about agricultural land use and resource protection may be directed to Christina McGinnis (mcginnisce@co.monterey.ca.us), or 831-759-7384.
