DEFINITIONS

CAL-OMS TREATMENT

  • CalOMS Treatment (CalOMS Tx) is California’s data collection and reporting system for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services. Treatment providers send client treatment data to DHCS each month. This treatment data builds a comprehensive picture of client behavior with: alcohol/drug use, employment and education, legal/criminal justice, medical/physical health, mental health, and social/family life. Summary reports, created from this treatment outcome data, contribute to the understanding of treatment and the improvement of substance use disorder treatment programs in the continuum of prevention, treatment and recovery services. By telling the story of substance use disorders and recovery in California, CalOMS Tx provides rich data for improving treatment outcomes, supporting effective funding, and for legally mandated federal and state reporting requirement
  • CalOMS Tx data is due to DHCS by the 15th of each month, or approximately within 45 days of the report month.
  • Counties and direct providers may submit their monthly CalOMS Tx data as soon as it is available, or at any time during the report month (the calendar month in which the admissions, discharges or annual updates occur).
