The Monterey County Health Department developed a COVID-19 Surveillance Plan to support better understanding of transmission, disease severity, and social disruptions associated with COVID-19 and to inform the public heath response. Indicators and metrics were selected from this plan and included in Monterey County’s Stage 2 Variance 2 application for accelerating through Stage 2.

The Monterey County Health Officer will continuously review the metrics below and assess whether the county’s current status demonstrates an ability to maintain health care system surge capacity and to protect those at high risk for severe COVID-19 disease.

Please note the metrics may different from other county- and state-reported data due to the way each metric is calculated and the time frame referenced.

*Unless otherwise specified, all indicators and metrics are calculated using a one-day lag.  Counting for measuring the metric starts on "Current Status" date.

**Current status as of July 11, 2020.
