EMS System Assessment
On June 6, 2017, the EMS Agency entered into a contract with Fitch and Associates, LLC, the nation’s leading EMS consulting firm. Fitch and Associates has been consulting for over 30 years, and they have conducted more successful national EMS procurements than any other firm. Fitch and Associates will lead the EMS Agency’s assessment, strategic planning and RFP process.
During the EMS System Assessment, Fitch and Associates reviewed and analyzed data, documents, and reports. They directly observed components of the EMS System to understand the system’s strengths and weaknesses. The EMS Agency hosted numerous public meetings for Fitch and Associates where they met with key representatives and individuals, and—for the first time in a California EMS System assessment—met with County and city planning departments to understand the scope, land use, and other characteristics of the development within Monterey County during the 2020-2030 planning period. Fitch and Associates conducted detailed financial analyses of the EMS System, analyzed the financial performance of other EMS systems, and examined reimbursement mechanisms.
The EMS Agency assisted Fitch and Associates in holding public meetings and listening sessions in each district of the five districts which concluded in October 2017. For the list of scheduled dates, times, and locations, please visit our Public Notices page.
The Phase One process culminated with the release of the EMS System Assessment Report and the presentation of that report to the Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) on January 10, 2018.
