Feds Back Off Coronavirus Isolation at Camp Roberts
The Monterey County Health Officer received notice last evening that federal authorities no longer consider Camp Roberts a potential site to house any returning travelers who may or may not be infected with novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

JUDGE SENTENCES INMATE TO FIFTY YEARS TO LIFE FOR POSSESSING WEAPONS IN SALINAS VALLEY STATE PRISON
Monterey County DA Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that Judge Timothy P. Roberts pronounced sentence on David Player, an inmate at the Salinas Valley State Prison, for possessing two stabbing weapons on the state prison grounds after his conviction by jury on January 17, 2020.

KING CITY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ATTEMPTED EXTORTION
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that on February 4, 2020, Judge Carrie Panetta sentenced 30-year-old Jesus Lopez, Jr., a resident of King City, to 2 years and 8 months in prison after entering a plea of no contest to felony attempted extortion.
