On-line (Internet) Payments

Payments may be made through the internet using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or through an electronic checking or savings debit. *All payments processed on-line will be assessed a convenience fee. See below for fee schedule.

*Convenience Fees

The Treasurer-Tax Collector's office does not charge a fee to process payments on-line, however, the vendor processing your payments assesses the following convenience fees:

E-check Payments - $0.25 flat fee
Credit Card Payments - 2.25% of the total tax bill

(All convenience fees are assessed by our credit card vendor, not the County of Monterey.)

NOTE: When looking at your tax bill, it shows that you have both an ASMT number and a FEE number. Use of the ASMT number will only bring up that specific tax bill. However, use of the FEE number will bring up ALL tax bills associated with this property, including supplemental tax bills and defaulted tax years. We recommend using the FEE number for on-line payments.

You will need your 12-digit FEE number to make payments on-line. For assistance in locating your FEE number, contact our office at (831) 755-5057.

To make an on-line payment:

  1. Click on the button below which will take you to a “tax inquiry” page to pay your taxes.

    Make Payment Button

  2. Enter the search criteria by entering the FEE number you wish to pay. All tax bills related to this property will be displayed.
  3. Select the appropriate ASMT number you wish to pay.
  4. On the View Tax Bill page, under the “Taxes” section, check which installment (1st or 2nd installment) you wish to pay online.
  5. Select “Add to Cart,” taking you to “My Cart.”
  6. Continue with check out by selecting payment type (e-Check or Credit/Debit card).

Convenience Fees will be disclosed after you complete the required fields for payment type. (You have the option to cancel payment at any time prior to the final approval.)

Please print a copy of the confirmation number you receive when completing the payment. This number is your proof of payment. If you are unsure if the payment was completed, or if the system did not provide you with a confirmation number, try the payment again. Our system provides real time posting to your taxes - it will not accept a duplicate payment for the same installment.

By Telephone

Payments may be made by phone using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or an electronic checking or savings debit, through our electronic payment vendor Official Payments. *All payments processed by phone will be assessed a convenience fee. See below for fee schedule.
